All About Skin Extractions Vancouver

By Ines Flores

We all love taking care of our skin especially the face. One of the challenges facing all types and color of face is acne. The most common forms of acne are whiteheads and blackheads. The blackheads and whiteheads can be removed by an esthetician in a process known as skin extractions Vancouver BC. But is the process worth it?

Comedonals is the other name for whiteheads and blackheads; the two most common forms of acne. What causes them? When oil or sebum clogs the hair follicles comedonals result. If there is a layer of dead cells over the spot, the comedonal is now a whitehead and is closed to air compared to a blackhead. That Is basically the difference between the two.

There are different types of therapies individuals seek to treat the acne blemish. Some people use medication from drugstores while others from dermatologists. Another common alternative is an esthetician who is a professionally trained skin care expert. An esthetician helps relieve acne through facials; a face cleansing procedure where the blackheads and whiteheads are plucked off.

A facial is a cleansing procedure for the face. It involves cleaning, exfoliating and massaging. The purpose of these procedures is to soften up the plug of hardened sebum that is blackheads. Once softened, the extraction process may begin. Hand gloves are necessary for this procedure as exchange of body fluids can result to transmission of disease.

Estheticians may use extraction tools or index fingers to get rid of the blackheads on the face. Extraction tools are stainless steel and seem to be quicker but some clients complain of pain. In contrast, index fingers are much slower but some clients find them more comfortable. When using the index fingers, the esthetician should apply pressure on both sides of the blackhead and try to remove it gently from the follicle.

There is a layer of dead cells on top of the hard plug of sebum on the hair follicle. This makes it difficult to remove the whitehead using tools or fingers. The alternative is a lancet or a small surgical blade. The blade should be sterile used delicately as the process is very fragile. The esthetician can make a small opening and remove the whitehead. However, note that the use of lancets for such procedures is prohibited in some states.

There are a number of basic safety precautions and measures to be observed by both the client a beauty expert. Firstly, each procedure should not be more than ten minutes. Also, the client should not undergo many procedures at once as they could cause trauma to the skin. Usually, two treatment procedures every two weeks are recommended. Also, the aesthetician should not work on inflamed skin to prevent spread of infection.

Extractions are important for those with acne and other blemishes. The face starts to improve almost immediately after clearing the follicles. As a client, be keen on your expectations as the extraction process can hurt. Thinner skins are more sensitive compared to thicker ones. Also, some estheticians may be more aggressive than others.
