GMO or the genetically modified organism is a novel organism created by scientists when they engineers food plants. Experts have cited a lot of health and environmental risks with these foods, thus many people in different parts of the world are demanding non genetically modified or non GMO foods. If you have been in grocery stores in recent days or months, you have seen products with the label of non GMO ingredients or GMO free.

Modification of plants is not a new occurrence. Even in the this new era, experts are continuously inventing new innovations that could convert the process into supplements. Today, more and more people have considered the use of non gmo vitamins and supplements as their daily routine than taking them by any food products.

For many centuries, gardeners and farmers have been considering the process of crossbreeding for various species of plants. They have created other plants that produce more beautiful, tasting and heartier crops. But, this engineered food product have increased the concerns of many people in the world because of the crossbreeding practice.

By using the modern genetic process, the genes of the plants, animals and virus are also inserted in different organisms.. These can determine what type of characteristic is present in a specific organism. With the use of the advanced technology, experts have also created new and unique characteristics of plants and animals combined together, such as potato with jellyfish that glows in the water.

At this point of time, the risks of consuming these altered foods are not yet identified, since there are still further studies conducted to evaluate the impact of these foods to the human health. However, studies have shown that it can trigger allergic reactions and may create toxins that could produce any kind of disease.

Since people around the world are more aware of the possible health risks, they are also demanding that producers and manufacturers should eliminate the so called Frankenfoods from their products. There are proactive food producers who stopped using the ingredients and now labeling their items as non Genetically Modified Organism ingredients.

Scientists have created new items in the form of supplements. But, there are still individuals who are not convinced with its benefit. Basically, there are certain reasons why individuals should consider daily supplementation to their diet. It is actually true that food processing, cooking and preserving can also lead to depletion which makes it hard for anyone to obtain the right nutrition for their health.

Every individual have genetic weaknesses, such as the needs of some nutrients, and increased possibility of expression of some illnesses if mineral or vitamin deficiencies are present. A lot of nutrients have been proven to prevent in treating health conditions, such as arthritis, high cholesterol and cancer.

Many believe that taking the right amount of vitamins in the form of healthy foods is enough to obtain the right nutrition their body needs. But, the truth is, it is not enough and require other forms of supplementation. That is why, some prefer to take supplements and eat healthy foods.
