Sunbathing Compared To The Popular Spray Tan Method

By Haywood Hunter

Many people don't like to admit things that go against what they've been accustomed to or something they like. For example, sunbathing is appealing to many people, even though they know that it can be dangerous to their health. There have been links between sunbathing and skin cancer, so this isn't a myth. Having said that, there are alternatives which can provide a beautiful healthy glow, coming from the very popular spray tan.

People can still get the natural look but they desire, but with safe chemicals. In using these methods, they can develop that beautiful tan in no time, and have no fear of developing skin cancer. Other forms that were developed to attract those who wanted a tan but couldn't do it the natural way include sunbeds. Unfortunately, many of these proved to come with many risks as well. It's important to use sunblock, but it's also important to recognize the fact that it can decrease the amount of vitamin D a person's skin will absorb.

An effective and safe approach to self tanning involves certain carotenoids, which are anti-oxidants found in some forms of produce, like celery and tomato plants. They change the skin tone when added to one's diet, in high amounts, for instance. Another is lycopene, which has a strong color and is non-toxic, used in different areas of the world as a safe food coloring.

Sunless tanning has a great effect, although it is temporary and fades away after several days. In other words, the individual will have to go for another session, which are primarily available at spas, salons or gyms. These are generally similar to shower stalls or cubicles where the individual is sprayed all over.

It's important for consumers to protect themselves, such as with avoiding inhalation at the time of spraying and that their eyes remain shut throughout the application. Moreover, some may be prone to an allergic skin reaction, due to the preservatives within the chemical solution. However, this method has been carefully studied by various government bodies around the world, and have found it to be safe.

Of course, there are many other self tanning methods as well, such as bronzers. These are generally applied by the individual, and come in the form of creams or lotions, sprays, mousse, and others. Sometimes, depending on the product, it could lead to streaking, and other problems, like staining. What's more is that these can come off in the shower, so they're only good for a day or so.

The sprayed on tan may very well be the best solution. It's quick and easy and lasts up to 10 days. Airbrushing is another option that is completed by professionals, generally in spas, but may also be in salons. Airbrushing is a great way to get a natural looking tan for any special event.

Whatever the case, there are lots of options which all lead to everything but what was the norm. Natural tanning is to be avoided at all costs. No one is denying the fact that vitamin D is necessary for good health, and that can be absorbed in just 15 to 20 minutes of daily exposure to indirect sunlight. Everyone should be true to themselves and try to avoid exposure to the sun in its peak hours, which can easily lead to the skin burning very quickly, and thereby increasing risks to developing skin cancer.
