Be Upgraded About Periodontal Pockets

By Michelle Howe

Dental diseases are most of the time difficult to identify. This is because; most people avoid regular dental checkup or even regular brushing of the teeth. To be informed about the periodontal pockets help to reinforce the essence of keeping ones teeth healthy to avoid an infection.

One can sense an infection by the condition of the teeth. Teeth with swelling around them or those bluish red in color shows the initial stage of the infection. At this time the depth is not that deep and it is said to be at the initial stage known as the gingivitis. It is characterized by a lot of pain on the bases of the teeth.

All this begin with lack of regular brushing of all teeth. This result to a colorless pigment clothing around the teeth consisting of food particles, mucus and bacteria called plaque. This should be removed regularly by brushing the teeth. Otherwise, the bacteria end up feeding on the food particles releasing toxic substances that cause teeth irritation.Father hardening of the plaque leads to a more hardened substance that cannot be eliminated by a simple tooth brushing called the tartar. At this period the bacteria now acts on the gums causing a bluish red color on the gums. This is the early stage of the periodontal pockets.

What really causes this infection is the inflammation of the bacteria. This is because of what people eat, the teeth tend to be coated by a sticky colorless pigment known as plaque. The bacteria in the plaque act on food particles producing poisonous substances that cause an irritation on the teeth.

Periodontal pockets exist in several stages. Gingivitis is the initial stage of the infection. It is usually associated with causing the gums to swell and turn bluish red in color. Untreated gingivitis will lead the second stage which is known as periodontist. During this stage the cavity further deepens as a result of the food particle being located in the depth where brushes cannot reach. This therefore leads to the bacteria forming more poisonous substances that inflate the gums further widening the distance between the teeth and the gums.

The dentist can administer antibiotics that can be in tablets form or in gel form. An example of an antibiotic is the chlorate orient gel that is provided in syringes and applied directly onto the already developed holes. Antiseptics can also be used to keel the bacteria completely by being applied directly to the depth of the cavity of section of affected gums.

Alternatively, during these adverse stages of the disease, surgical treatment may be offered. The dentist may administer surgery on the gums and this requires repeated procedures that can as well require regular checkups up to twenty times. This should as well be accompanied by maintenance procedures.

Upgrading ones knowledge on periodontal pockets help once as well to understand why some people are more venerable to it than others. People suffering from Aids and cancer are venerable because the immune system is weakened. As well people suffering from diabetes are venerable because most of the time the body is not in position to fight bacteria.
