Lose the Wrinkles and Look Younger

By Anne Fennell

As of late, big gains have been made in the area of cosmetic procedures, and facial wrinkles are a heavy focus in this. No one wants to be though of as "old" but sadly in this world, having younger looking skin is very important and if there are visible wrinkles others will not find a person as attractive.

What is the process of wrinkle treatments like? With so many offering the treatments, what is it you should be aware of before you opt for it? Here we take a closer look at wrinkle treatments in general.

Exactly what is involved when getting wrinkle treatments?

Toxins in the air are all around us, whether it comes from the exhaust from cars, the smoke from cigarettes, or the burning rays of the sun, skin takes it's share of damage and abuse. Wrinkles are just another name for the not very appealing lines that appear on one's face, and in the case of numerous lines, the problem is just compounded.

Removing wrinkles is achieved by using botulinum toxin, as it is an effective wrinkle treatment. Laser treatments, simple skin creams, and chemical peels are other options that are designed to accomplish this goal. The popularity of botox treatments is gaining ground quickly, despite the other options available. We see ads for products on the market constantly, but the truth is that anti-wrinkle creams can only do so much to make wrinkles less noticeable.

Which is the most effective treatment?

At this time, this can not be answered with a high degree of certainty. Facial wrinkles respond differently to different treatments in different patients, so it is hard to say which one would work the best. The effectiveness of treatments using botox injections or other dermal fillers is well known, so more and more people appear to be choosing this method.

For how much time will a patient benefit from treatments?

This depends on the type of treatment patients decide to have. Skin creams have short lived effects and need repeat application often, sometimes daily to show any effect whatsoever. The effects of dermal fillers such as botox treatments last for months, as these methods are superior.

Cost and cost efficiency

Treatment of facial wrinkles is not cheap. The process chosen and the treatment provider are the deciding factors in cost, it can be around $300 or even up to $3000 or more, as these advanced treatments take specialized equipment, materials, and training. If someone doesn't mind applying skin creams every day and buying more often, this is an option for some. Cost effectiveness can only be calculated over a period of time as each patient may require treatments at different times. Botox and other dermal fillers are beginning to look like the most practical and cost effective treatment for facial wrinkles, over time. There are also some doctors who make the claim that the most economical means of reducing wrinkles is by CO2 laser.

The healing process following treatments

There are no side effects to recover from when using skin creams, no healing required. Microdermabrasion looks right now to likely be the quickest healing procedure of the specialized treatments available. This of course does not mean that it is the greatest treatment available, or that patients prefer the treatment process any more, as it is reported to be kind of unpleasant.

Synopsis

A wide variety of treatments exist when it comes to facial wrinkle reduction processes. There are both good and bad points for each kind of treatment. Patients should take all of these things into careful consideration, including looking at the provider's credentials and experience, the price, and which treatments they feel they can handle best.
