Skin Care Tips That Make A Difference To Your Skin

By Katrina Eaton

Skin care guidelines are almost everywhere. Open any magazine and you'll find lists of 'Do's' for your skin. Obviously, we all care about how our skin looks. It's the very first thing people observe, and it says a lot about our well being - both outer and inner. So it's no wonder we are bombarded with the hottest solutions, therapies and 'all new' revelations.

Now why don't most of us have impeccable skin? If all these tips and breakthrough products worked, you would expect everyone to be walking around glowing. The truth is, skin treatment is really quite uncomplicated and we don't actually need 7 step facial regimens to keep it looking it's best.

The skin care market will have us believe differently, but of course their main concern is revenues and not results. If there genuinely was a wonder product made, everyone would be working with it, and the skin care market would die, right?

What are some of the tips that actually work for skin? These are simple, straightforward and proven with results. They combine knowledge and common sense, and remember that skin can mainly take care of itself and simply needs a helping hand.

Stress is actually the greatest trigger of skin problems. It affects all of the systems of our body, so when these don't work smoothly it shows on our skin. A hang over is an excellent example - a dehydrated body and overtaxed liver will show up on your drained, dull skin the next day. Forget to rehydrate and re-energize, and your face will continuously demonstrate it through spots and uneven color.

Take measures to reduce stress and you not only look after your skin but entire body.

An additional tip we continually see is to put on sunscreen conscientiously each day. Of course, a lot of sun is damaging to the skin's deeper layers, but there are good reasons to expose your skin to a little sun. You can see this after a holiday in the sun, your skin glows as if lit from within.

Of course I'm not telling you to go out and get sun burnt, but I do think it's beneficial to see a few rays of sun a day on your skin. This will outweigh any adverse affects of possible damage as sunlight is important for Vitamin D synthesis and numerous other processes related to skin health.

Additional 'tips' refer to what products to use, and commonly with an objective to market a particular one. What's worth listening to regarding skin care products? The ones that make a difference are those that list active components. The three Vitamins A C and E, that help to rejuvenate skin from the underlying layers where healthy skin originates from, are the best to use.

Stick to the basics - keep your skin clean and hydrated and everything else will fall into place. Drug store cleansers and moisturizers work fine if they are simple (look for a small number of ingredients). Even olive, jojoba or almond oil work really well as all purpose skin products.

So what makes your best skin? Typically it comes down to experimentation. You know your own skin more than anyone, and so just incorporate a couple of these suggestions and see how it reacts. Keep in mind that skin looks after itself really well. The tips actually worth listening to are those with a good dose of practicality that don't require drastic measures.
